You may have noticed that I’m lagging lately. Part of the reason for this is that I’ve split my creative stream with the creation of my second Substack, Mon Tracteur et moi, which focuses on my new life in rural France.
It’s been a great run these last couple of years with New Personal Best and I’m grateful for all of you, but I’ve lost inspiration. I don’t want to waste your time (or money) waffling on about protein and glycogen unless I can do it in a way that educates and entertains both of us.
Meanwhile, over on Mon Tracteur, I’m doing some of my most inspired writing in years. While it’s not directly related to sports nutrition per se, farming is the essence of active lifestyle and healthy eating. As I build our chicken coop, help my wife sow seeds in our veggie garden, plant pear trees, and forage for mushrooms, I couldn’t be more aware of this.
This new Substack as an opportunity to expand the conversation about food and include the social, environmental, and culinary aspects. I can also re-assert my one of my core beliefs: The key to any solid diet is real, whole foods.
If you read NPB for the straight-up sports nutrition advice, please bear with me—and remember that I’m always an email away. If you’re here for my writing or you're up for a broader conversation about food and life, please subscribe to Mon Tracteur et moi!
Talk to you soon,
Denis
