Lots of ways to skin this particular cat. Following the label recommendations is a good way to make sure you're getting whatever benefits the brand is promising--if they're a reputable brand--so I'd start there.

Or, I see 1g-3g a lot, so if you're looking for a blanket amount, I'd go 3 g. (I mentioned that in passing above. I will be clearer next time!)

Or, if you have a specific benefit in mind, I'd look to the study that convinced you (there are links to studies in the article) and I'd figure out what dose they gave the participant.
